By James Swanner Finally, after a three-year hiatus, the ghost pepper wings from Popeyes have returned. Other things have been re-added to the Popeyes menu like the strawberry cheesecake and the blueberry pie, but, undeniably, the ghost pepper wings are the fan favorite. These wings are bone-in chicken wings that are marinated for 12 hours in Popeye’s ghost pepper spice blend. I have personally tried these wings, and they are not as spicy as the name sounds. Even though real ghost peppers have a Scoville heat unit of 1,000,000, the ghost pepper wings are nowhere near as hot as that; so, if you are a humongous fan of spicy foods and want your tongue to burn, these wings won’t be what you want. The wings themselves have a lot of batter and are crispy. The downside is that the wings are smaller than regular wings. It was hard to get the meat out of the wings because of the size. If you are just a fan of spicy foods but don’t want anything too serious, then these wings are definitely for you.
