By John Arnold If I were to pick a favorite restaurant, I would have to choose L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. Their local location is at the Bixby Village Plaza on 7th Street. The restaurant is of course a Hawaiian barbecue, and they primarily serve island-themed plates. L&L’s primary dishes consist of barbecue plates and bowls as well as shrimp dishes, burgers, soup and spam musubi. Their barbecue dishes usually range from $4.25 to $7.25, depending on whether you get a large or small meal. Other dishes such as their beef, chicken and pork plates are generally anywhere between $4.25 to $7.95. Burgers are one of the cheaper foods on their menu, with a regular burger being as cheap as $2.89 and a large being as cheap as $4.45. Musubis are one of the most popular foods on the menu, costing $2.95 each but will increase in price depending on which type of musubi you order.
My favorite food there is the teriyaki chicken bowl which comes with a choice of white or brown rice, vegetables and sauce. This dish usually does not take long to cook and always makes for a delicious lunch or dinner. It has the perfect amount of chicken and rice as it is not too large of a meal where you often have leftovers but never leaves you wanting more to eat. I would highly recommend this plate as well as their spam musubi which can serve as both a snack and a full meal. Ordering one spam musubi will give you something small but substantial while ordering 2 or 3 will completely satisfy your hunger. This is my favorite restaurant not only because of the delicious food but also because of the good customer service. The cashiers are very helpful to anyone unsure of what they want to order and they are patient when waiting for you to finish looking over the menu. They prepare the food in usually 5 to 8 minutes and even remember who I am and what my order is.

By Noah Buchanan If you are dying for some steak or any grilled food, go to The Eldo. The Eldo is located at 3014 N Studebaker Rd Ste C, Long Beach, CA 90808. The service options are dine-in and takeout. Their menu offers all types of food, from burgers to sandwiches, to seafood and steaks. The menu also offers a variety of appetizers and desserts, even including pies! On the other hand, the pricing is a little more on the expensive side, for example the price range is in between $17-$19, excluding the more exotic food which is around $25-$50. Some of the specialties of The Eldo are the seafood or the chophouse (steaks). Their seafood is highly recommended, but the most recommended food item is the rib eye steak, which costs $39.49 and is served with garlic mashed potatoes or upgraded for a baked potato and vegetables. My personal favorite item on the menu is their filet mignon with baked potato or mashed potatoes with vegetables. It is a must get! I recommend going to this restaurant. If you ever want the best grilled steaks or seafood you can have in Long Beach, you should check out The Eldo!
By Tyler Cazares Gyu Kaku is a popular restaurant close to the Cerritos Mall. Since there are big competitors like Lucille’s nearby, they are always serving the best food, with the best service in order to keep up. Gyu Kaku specializes in serving Japanese BBQ that is cooked right in front of you. They have plenty of sides and delicious s’mores that are served for dessert. Gyu Kaku is for the most part a restaurant that gives you family meals, such as the meat lovers dish (my personal favorite). Although you have to cook your own food, it takes very little time, and you can cook it to your own perfection. If I had to give Gyu Kaku a motto I would say “you get what you pay for” because although it’s pricey, it makes a perfect nice family dinner. With food this good, you should be expected to pay this much, but I still think they're lowballing their prices. The quantity and quality food call for high prices, yet Gyu Kaku is still only charging $110 for 3 people, $150 for 4 people, and $210 for 6 people. My personal experience at this restaurant is great, and if I was a food critic, I would rate it 10/10. The best dish has to be the meat lover's meal, with cheese wontons, and s’mores for dessert. That is my recommendation.
By Kyle Shisbey Looking for the best pasta you’ll ever taste? Well, the best restaurant that sells it is Romano’s Macaroni Grill. This restaurant serves the most delicious Italian style mixed with American cuisine. Their menu consists of great vast numbers of different variations of pastas and appetizing Italian dishes. My personal favorite is their kid's macaroni and cheese dish. Although that sounds like it's only for little children, I've got good reasoning for why it's my favorite. This restaurant has always been my favorite ever since the first time dining there. They serve you complimentary rosemary bread and when mixed with olive oil, it becomes a true work of art. And yet that's not even the best part, their macaroni and cheese is served both on their kid's menu and adult menu, but they use the same noodles and cheese sauce. I really recommend trying it but at the same time, you might find a dish that catches your eye even more. Their pricing is reasonable for their foods, but still on the more expensive side. But their best type of food are the pastas. Their pasta is their specialty menu item since it is a legacy menu. The legacy menu is a menu which they haven’t changed since the restaurant was established. These recipes are straight from Italy and have been passed through many generations just to satisfy your taste buds.
Sadly, although this is such a great restaurant, not many are still open. During the pandemic, they were forced to close 37 unprofitable locations. But there are still 93 still open around the US. If you are ever in debate with yourself over what to eat, try Romano’s Macaroni Grill because it could be a decision that will satisfy you and higher your expectations for other Italian cuisine restaurants. By Jack Moncure Patricia’s Mexican restaurant is a classic home style Mexican restaurant off Atlantic and 36th in central Long Beach/California Heights area. The atmosphere is great, very welcoming, and very homey. Patricia’s is available for dine in or take out, making it a perfect lunch or dinner spot. I have heard good things about their breakfast, too, but I have not personally tried it. Patricia’s is home to a wide variety of menu options. They have amazing burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and more. I don’t really have a personal favorite, but the one menu item that stands out the most would be their quesadillas. They make their quesadillas extra thick with cheese using two tortillas, all served up so greasy and bi that it’s in a pizza box. They also make great snacks or sides to share. Overall, Patricia’s is an amazing restaurant, I promise you won’t be disappointed. You just have to try it to find out. Next time you get the chance, stop by Patricia’s and grab some delicious food!
By Alexander Cobbs If you’re hungry, Wingstop is the place for you. But not just any Wingstop. If you have the taste for some wings, take a little trip on down to the Wingstop in Whittier, California, on 13345 Telegraph Road. Here’s why you should stop by and pick up some food at this particular Wingstop
The reasoning as to why this current address is the one being suggested is because of its consistency. This location is full of patient workers who make sure their job is done to the best of their ability. Their customer service is top of the line. They make sure that they supply you with the delicious wings each and every time. Now, it’s time to talk about what you all are here for. The wings of course! At Wingstop, they provide you with 12 different flavors to choose from which allows for each and every customer to get what they want. The wings come in the quantities of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and even 20. Now the prices aren’t the cheapest with the majority of the meals ranging between 12 to 25 dollars. But Wingstop always makes sure that you get your money's worth. A good recommendation for your first time over at Wingstop is the 8 pc Bone-In Combo. This meal will provide you with a filling amount of wings with a side of fries and a 20 ounce drink. Suggested flavors for the wings are Original Hot, Barbecue, and Lemon Pepper and if you add sugar or Cajun onto your fries, you might just fall in love. A personal favorite of the house is the new Chicken Sandwich. With the same large amount of flavors to choose from, the Sandwiches give you a nice, tasty, meal with a great crunch to each bite. You can also make it a combo and add some seasoned fries and a drink to it, making the experience even more sensational. So what are you waiting for, stop by the Wingstop in Whittier today! |
