By John Arnold If I were to pick a favorite restaurant, I would have to choose L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. Their local location is at the Bixby Village Plaza on 7th Street. The restaurant is of course a Hawaiian barbecue, and they primarily serve island-themed plates. L&L’s primary dishes consist of barbecue plates and bowls as well as shrimp dishes, burgers, soup and spam musubi. Their barbecue dishes usually range from $4.25 to $7.25, depending on whether you get a large or small meal. Other dishes such as their beef, chicken and pork plates are generally anywhere between $4.25 to $7.95. Burgers are one of the cheaper foods on their menu, with a regular burger being as cheap as $2.89 and a large being as cheap as $4.45. Musubis are one of the most popular foods on the menu, costing $2.95 each but will increase in price depending on which type of musubi you order.
My favorite food there is the teriyaki chicken bowl which comes with a choice of white or brown rice, vegetables and sauce. This dish usually does not take long to cook and always makes for a delicious lunch or dinner. It has the perfect amount of chicken and rice as it is not too large of a meal where you often have leftovers but never leaves you wanting more to eat. I would highly recommend this plate as well as their spam musubi which can serve as both a snack and a full meal. Ordering one spam musubi will give you something small but substantial while ordering 2 or 3 will completely satisfy your hunger. This is my favorite restaurant not only because of the delicious food but also because of the good customer service. The cashiers are very helpful to anyone unsure of what they want to order and they are patient when waiting for you to finish looking over the menu. They prepare the food in usually 5 to 8 minutes and even remember who I am and what my order is.
