By James Swanner Artificial Intelligence, or AI, has been getting increasingly advanced over the past 50 years, but there will be a point when it is too advanced. AI has done a lot of good for our society but many potentially bad things might happen in the future. One example of this is human unemployment. With robots not being humans and easily replaceable, robots can be the main workforce in the future, leaving humans unemployed. Another bad thing about robots is that they are imperfect and have many errors. They could be very dangerous when dysfunctioning, you don’t know the dangers that could happen. The last and possibly most important fact is the damage to the environment. The carbon footprint that is created because of fuel and hardware required to make good robots is horrible for the environment and our world.
AI becoming more advanced isn’t all bad, there are many good things about it. As I said before, human unemployment would happen and many people are against that but the upsides are workers who would rarely mess up and are artificially smarter than humans. Also, they could take jobs that are life-threatening for humans like being in the army. Another big help to humans would be that cyber security would be increased drastically which would help keep their money safe from hackers. Advanced AI will make it much safer for people’s belongings to be kept away from hackers and other bad people. Personally, I believe that AI being advanced is a good thing for the world and hope for it to continue advancing because that will allow new inventions and better quality items to be made for the world.
