According to Fox News, a human skull was found near the top of Mount Hood located in Oregon. Analyzing the skull’s DNA showed authorities that it belonged to a young woman. The young woman was named Wanda Ann Herr, who disappeared in the late 1970s and was only 19 years old. The skull was found on August 2, 1986, near the town of Government Camp, by two forestry workers along with bone fragments and a human tooth. The forensic examiner for the Oregon State Police dictated that the skull had been in the woods for 10 years. No new evidence could be found at the time so the case went cold until in 2008 DNA analysis at the University of North Texas found out that the skull had to belong to a female in her early 20s or late teens. Then from there a forensic imaging specialist was able to reconstruct the skull using clay which had helped to find more clues and tips but no solid leads. More research revealed that she was born in 1957 and after detectives interviewed Herr’s surviving sisters, it was determined that she had disappeared some time after June 1976. From the interviews detectives deduced that she was a chronic runaway even though there is no record that Wanda was a runaway or missing, also she had no bank accounts or a DMV record.
