By: Leslie Lopez According to Newsweek, women are dressing in “Handmaid's Tale” cloaks and going to government offices to protest. They have done a silent demonstration protest on the steps of courthouses in Madison, Boston, Florida, and Little Rock. The women are protesting about Amy Barrett’s Supreme Court nomination. They are demanding justice for Ruth Ginsberg since it was her wish for her spot to be replaced after the presidential election, according to Ms.Magazine. Instead of her wish being fulfilled, republican senators rushed to nominate Amy Barrett to fill Ruth’s spot. On October 25th activists walked around 100 cities while dressed in black and red robes. Those dressed in black are portraying Ruth Ginsberg and the ones in red are portraying the hanmaids from the dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood.
Jessie Steiger is the founding member of the Boston Red Cloaks. The Boston Red Cloaks want equal rights for all women, especially body autonomy. Amy Coney Barrett was elected by Donald Trump and she was confirmed to the senate on October 26th.
